Schmetterling XVIII by hepiladron Schmetterling XVIII by hepiladron
It's one of 'em green butterflies. Emerald Swallowtail - Papilio Palinurus. At the butterfly house. I was trying to get the focus of the picture on it's shiny neck. Black and reflecting green - quite style-ish if you ask me.

In which "butterfly house" did you take it? Was it the papiliorama in FR?

I've seen an advertisement of that place on a box of zwieback :D I'm planning to go there as soon as I can put my hands on the new Canon EOS 400D ;) Is there a better period to go there or any time of the year is good?
May I ask you which lense do you use for these shots? I reckon I need a macro, but they're so expensive...

I've heard good things about the 400D. :)
I think some of the butterflies are seasonal. But not many. You won't run out of subjects for your photography. In the summer it's really hot in there.

All my butterfly shots are with the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 macro lens. My favourite lens by far!

Let me know when you get the 400D. If i've got the time then we could meet up at the Papiliorama and i could let you use my macro lens and my extention tubes and you can decide if you need one or the other (or both) yourself.
